AUSTIN (KXAN) — After 11 days between games, the No. 5 Texas Longhorns made easy work of the Sam Houston State Bearkats 12-2 in five innings on Wednesday at McCombs Field. A grand slam by Texas shortstop Viviana Martinez in the bottom of the fifth pushed the score past the 8-run mercy rule limit and sent the Longhorns to victory in walk-off fashion. It was part of a 6-run frame for the Longhorns as Bella Dayton and Mia Scott both had RBI singles before Martinez's fourth home run of the season. She hit a 2-run double in the first and had six RBIs in the game. CHICAGO — When the Twins dropped behind by three runs in the first inning with Cy Young Award runner-up Dylan Cease on the mound, it looked as if they were in trouble. But the Twins, who were nearly no-hit by the righthander last year, actually managed to claw their way back against him, using RBI doubles from Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton and Nick Gordon’s second home run of the year to do so.No, it was the leaky White Sox bullpen that the Twins had their problems with in a 6-4 loss to Chicago on Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field. With the score 4-4, the Twins loaded the bases in the seventh inning with no outs, putting themselves in a prime position to break the game open. Two plays at the plate — both Ryan Jeffers and Max Kepler were thrown out on ground balls in the infield — and a Trevor Larnach strikeout later, the momentum had heavily shifted. The White Sox responded in their half of the seventh inning, using an Eloy Jiménez single, which brought home Andrew Benintendi,...Special Use permit approved for Guilderland Costco project
