The fire, sparked by lightning July 31, is burning through piñon, juniper, sagebrush and grass. 2 wounded in South Central shooting Two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance Friday evening after they were shot in South Central Los Angeles.The shooting happened around 5:20 p.m., near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and 83rd Street in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood.The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene and requested ambulances for the two victims, whose conditions were unclear.Police have not released any information about the moments leading up to the shooting or the motive. Phone scammer caught impersonating sheriff's captain — by the captain himself ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — A scammer was caught in the act by the man he was trying to impersonate.  The real Capt. Chris Gulli, with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, said he got word a scammer was pretending to be him, contacting several people about an arrest warrant and demanding money.  Sheriff warns of scammers meeting with older victims, bilking thousands “They prey on people’s fears,” Gulli said. So he decided to give the scammer a call. "Nine times out of 10, they never pick up. And this is the one time the guy picked up and said, 'Captain Chris Gulli, Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.'
