Rugby World Cup success has a different meaning to New Zealand and Namibia

Success at the Rugby World Cup is measured very differently by New Zealand and Namibia. For New Zealand, the tournament is a good one only if the cup is won.For Namibia, its mere presence in France is a win. Some players had to change jobs in order to get leave for a month to attend the tournament. The capital Windhoek centers the country, so coming to practice from up north can mean a drive of five hours; from the Atlantic coast, four hours; and from the south, seven hours.“Wherever the players are situated, it’s always a sacrifice,” coach Allister Coetzee said. “And that tells of the resilience of the people and how much they love rugby.“Success for a Namibian team is once you overcome all the challenges and you get to a World Cup for a seventh time, that is already success in its own right. There are a couple of big nations not lucky to be here. We have worked hard and played ourselves into this competition again.“There is a bigger calling for these gentlemen. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Expectations were extremely high for defensive end Jared Verse at Florida State, yet the preseason All-American has just two tackles and two quarterback hurries in two games.Verse has drawn double teams and attention, but a veteran Seminoles’ defensive front has demonstrated it is more than a one-man show. No. 3 Florida State had four sacks in the season-opening win over LSU and tacked on two more last week against Southern Miss, which scored just three points in the first half against the first-team defense.“We’re going to be the best in the nation,” defensive tackle Fabien Lovett said. “It won’t be no ifs, ands or buts about it. We’re just focused on the best we can be each day, every rep.”Coach Mike Norvell and his staff have made an emphasis of accumulating defensive line talent in an effort to minimize how many reps the Seminoles will log each game. New video shows the moment a car was carried away by floodwaters in Leominster earlier this week as heavy rain triggered flash flooding across the city and its surrounding communities. 7NEWS recently spoke with the owner of the car, who said he watched the scene unfold Monday night behind their multi-family home off Central Street. “It’s devastating,” said Leominster resident Moses Dejene. “I’m still absorbing this.” Dejene said water started pooling in his parking lot Monday evening. As time went on, he said, the asphalt bucked, creating a huge crater. The water then broke through Dejene’s fence, taking his car with it. “I’ve never seen anything like this before and it’s unfortunate,” he said. The car was swept away until it stopped in a creek more than a hundred feet from Dejene’s parking lot. On Wednesday, Dejene was still in disbelief about the car and other damage, including a sinkhole near his home. “It’s a huge concern,” he said. “I act...Gov. The proposed spending comes after Healey said the shelter crisis was costing the state about $45 million a month.Emergency assistance shelter is for families with children or pregnant women who are experiencing homelessness, including newly arrived migrant families and locals. The administration has turned to a string of motels and hotels in municipalities across the state to expand shelter capacity.Healey called on the federal government fo...Latest news
